About Kevin
Kevin Loughrin grew up in Bolingbrook, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago.
He wrote his first short story when he was in fifth-grade. During his freshman year of college, Kevin wrote a non-fiction piece about golfing with his father. The piece won Kevin his first award in creative writing.
His sophomore year, Kevin began his career as a stage performer, starring in Shakespeare’s Love’s Labors Lost. He also auditioned for his college’s improv/sketch comedy team, where he would write, perform, and improvise hundreds of sketches and scenes during the course of the next three years.
After college, Kevin auditioned and was selected for a spot on a house team at the world famous iO Theater in downtown Chicago. He performed alongside framed photographs of Chris Farley, Mike Meyers, Tina Fey, and other notable alumni of the theater.
A masterful and captivating storyteller, Kevin has been a keynote speaker for conferences in Alaska, Florida, and many places in between.
He wrote his first novel in 2018. Soon after, he published his first short story. His second story was published in 2020. That same year, he completed work on his second novel, The Deer. It is currently out on submission.
He has written four novels in total, with plans for many more.
Kevin Loughrin currently lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his wife, his three children, and a very fluffy Chow-Chow named Sadie. When he’s not writing, Kevin can be found playing with his kids, daydreaming about kitchen remodels with his wife, or chopping wood alone in his backyard.
